I think the message here is that you have to weigh up when you are willing to risk the super jokers. Here, a 44 loses the game, and that cost is too high. There may be other times when you are willing to allow a risk like that, but only when the upside is much more significant. In this position it isn't significant, and not playing to protect against it is just laziness.
