My short summary of the Midwest Champs weekend

As mentioned, the heart of the BG weekend was ripped out due to having to work on Saturday. (Get a life, physicists!) But the rest was a lot of fun. Ilia and I won a blowout in our first doubles match but then hit the wall in the second. (We lost the DIRECTOR!! game.) I went 6-2 in the Blitz, losing to a couple of familiar boogoliner posters (and formidable opps), Stanley Richards and David Rockwell.

Thanks to Stick for sharing his bottle of Crown Royal on Sunday morning (very early Sunday morning, that is) and for entertaining and educating me with replies to opening rolls. (Matt R. was part of that quiz, and was teetotalling the whole time -- he had to drive to another hotel.)

I really wanted one of those trophies and Stick kindly offered to sell me his. I already have enough possessions I didn't earn, but thanks, anyway.
