Iranian means to implement Nimzovitch ideas in backgammon.
Quite possible this has been discussed before. If so, here is my thropence. It may not be true, but I like the sound of it:)
After his point a split is obligatory. Which split.
What? Nack, you use another letter for splits:)
The third possibility is to move 2 up. Why 2up - the Iranian way? 1. Because it increases the pressure on his stripped 8 point. (Nimzovich) 2. makes a stronger bid for an advanced anchor on the 21, 18 or 16 point or running away partially. Stronger anti-prime bids are necessary because his golden point gives him a harmony distribution and therefore the priming advantage.
3. the normal splits would bring one man down both as a sitting duck for the long range artillery and a lower quality builder after the bar was made.
Autopilot splits are middle sized errors.
