USBGF hits a home run .... 0.0 PR!!

The Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony will be one of the highlights of my entire backgammon life. Riles and Gibson, and the entire committee made this a truly special event and clearly selected highly-deserving people. Many of the inductees were there and I actually took notes and quotes from what they said, as they were touching, profound, funny, and interesting.
Some of the inductees were not there because they couldn't make it (or had passed on) but what was said about them by the presentors and people who accepted awards for them was also very moving.
I have to admit that I was skeptical. I was asked to be on the selection committee and I declined partially because I did not want to make the time commitment as I felt other things I was doing for the USBGF were already taking up a lot of my time and more important, but also, I did not have faith that the committee would make appropriate choices and I didn't want to fight with people--as you know I am the kind of person who avoids conflict as much as possible.
They proved me wrong, as no one could possibly disagree with their choices or how it was done, and though there are a few people I believe could easily have been given this honor, I am sure they will be included in the coming years.
The USBGF also put out a spectacular issue of Prime Time with terrific articles and insights by Jeremy on the inductees. It sold out almost immediately and I was quick to buy the first copy sold. It might be the finest magazine in the history of the game, and I urge everyone to order a copy from the USBGF--you won't be disappointed.
