Lesson Learned

Still a great result, Bill. Very well done to get to the semi-finals.
I know what you mean about keeping focus at the end of a match. I tend to specialize in losing matches that are all but won. Example: in the San Antonio consolations I had a gammon in the bag which would have secured the match (two men up on the bar and only seven or so men in my home board). He rolls and enters high in my board out of harms way.
I roll a 3 1 and promptly take two off, exposing two blots. My opponent, a nice fellow, says 'you do know I still have a man on the bar, don't you?'. But too late, the clock was punched.
Actually, I had checked out. Not sure what I was thinking about: lunch, a nap, a trip to the Alamo, who my next opponent would be … something other than the match. In my defense I was only a few days away from having had a bout of the flu so was probably not at my best, but still...
In any event, justice was duly meted out: he rolls 21, picking up both blots, wins the game and then the match. I am at my most vulnerable when I have an insurmountable lead in a match.
So I know the feeling (and at least you did not do something that stupid).
