Even if white throws a D6 and we don't throw a 3 or {51}, chance = about 1,8%, we are still ahead in the race, with a better board.
So, in those 1,8% of the games, we will still have a more than 50% winchance. So playing 6/1(3) 15/10 will only cost about 0,9% wins.
I guess 6/1(3) 15/10 will win a few % extra backgammons, so the backgammons alone will overcompensate the risk.
