BluffGammon

I was reading about various ways to introduce incomplete information to backgammon...the main point being that this feature seemed critical in making poker captivating for TV (i.e. visible hole cards)
I came across two interesting variants, perhaps there are more.
i) BluffGammon A http://www.bkgm.com/rgb/rgb.cgi?view+1573
ii) BluffGammon B http://www.bkgm.com/rgb/rgb.cgi?view+1512
I had never heard about BluffGammon B until yesterday...it sounds incredible. There are many interesting new features to this game...which roll to 'claim', how often to call "BS" as the second player, picking the worst roll for your opponent when you successfully call "BS", etc. All that and we keep all the rest of the mechanics of the game the same, including the doubling cube. Of course, the optimal checker play/ cube action may be different from normal BG, even holding the position constant, but to me this only adds appeal to the game.
Has anyone played this before? How would this variation fare vs normal BG from a television perspective (of course the viewer gets to see the hidden dice roll)? Other thoughts?
