I know the book answer was Run Forrest Run, but I wouldn't do it over the board. It goes against all the principles I have discovered for this type of position, with your closed board being the only thing that makes it a close call. 6/2, 6/4 for me, keeping the board all in one piece, which is better for the bearoff (do you think you are toast in this race?) and also for later action if by then he owns the cube.

Next roll, however, it may be another story. If he's had to bury those upper spares to avoid leaving a direct shot, or worse, created a gap behind me, I'd make the split rather than trash my board any further. That's another reason not to "save a 5" with this play, since more often than not you'll want to split or run with a 5 next turn anyway.
