In some ways, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Splitting in front of a stacked and stripped position creates options for a player with few.

On the other hand, not splitting against a position that threatens to become a strong block surrenders the initiative to the opponent. He can make a point or reposition builders according to the dice. The need for advancing an anchor increases against a stronger block, so splitting earlier rather than later is generally called for. This is the point Casper made.

I would play reverse split, Z = 24/22 13/7, in both of the positions mentioned by Chuck.

Does the potential of an upcoming cube turn affect this decision at all?
