Worst bet I ever lost

Playing doubles in Madison, against Rory, and we were winning 2away/3away. We gave the cube and Rory took and recubed and won the match.

Immediately after the match Rory said he didn't like our cube. I told him I didn't like his take, and I would bet him it was a double. He took the bet, and we looked at the match (it was recorded) and put the position in.

Rory won the bet. Why?

Because it was slightly too good to double.
