Your wording "leading up to" suggests you meant to include the first five rolls but not the roll on the board (the sixth roll).

That's correct. I meant the first five rolls.

Otherwise my "odd" comment wouldn't apply. With the sixth included, all rolls total 5 or include a 5, which was my back-up guess, but perhaps you mean something else?

Yes, though it sounds like you've come up with a different sequence than occurred in the actual game.

"I can do you one better" was a hint that in each of the first five rolls one die is exactly one pip larger than the other (thus making your odd observation true as well).
