Blue is out-boarded, but has a small racing lead. Racing would be my game plan. Here, I want to play safely as much as possible.

Clearing the midpoint, d = 13/8 13/7, leaves a flexible position, and exposes only one blot. Hitting plays appear to be more dangerous. After hitting, there is no way to play the 6 that does not open up more blots. That risks too many single games and too many gammons.

QF, of course, suggests I am wrong!
