This reminds me a bit of the Hank Youngerman fiasco a few years back. Making it clear that online backgammon was easy to cheat with.

The bigger problem is that it is clearly possible to effectively cheat, in person, at high levels of play, and get away with it in bridge and make money.

Had the players obfuscated their code a bit I don't believe that they could have been caught out in a beyond a shadow of a doubt fashion. Obviously the win statistics speak for themselves but alone do not provide proof of cheating.

This is likely to be educational for cheaters rather than dissuading them.

So like the Tour de France if your numbers are superhuman then you are almost certainly cheating but if you don't fail a drug test then you are a champion.
