Thanks, Sean, and England was one of the first Federations to jump in and offer enthusiastic support for the program.
As you know I am a Charter Member No. 7 of the UKBGF and am proud of what England has done to promote the game in your country and world wide. Your large, free events and many other things show imagination and get more people excited about playing the game at the tournament level.
Individuals are really what is going to make this all work...people in each city working with their Federations and us to search for students who already know a little about backgammon or might be interested in learning and playing and providing them with some coaching, possibly a free or discounted backgammon board, and giving them a venue to play both on line and live.
And of course, your financial support and donations will help us buy boards and provide scholarships and do some promotion and help fund the finals. In that regard, you can donate to the program at www.gofundme.com/ehgb2v38
This whole effort is NOT just about crowning a world collegiate championship and giving away some scholarship money...it's about giving the kids some on line and hopefully live competition on a regular basis and developing programs all over the world to expose backgammon to more people. And it's already starting as volunteers are popping up all over the world eager to get something going in their community.
