Advantage of strong players

There are discussions about cherry picking, ranking, BMAB etc. It looks like most of the players wants to show a strong PR but in the end what is the advantage, is only because of pride ? In chess is huge because you can get invitations (sometimes money as well ) to tournaments, you can get easy draws in tournaments, you can scare weaker players, etc. In bg we have money games were is questionable if been recognized a strong player is an advantage and then we have tournaments were I am more inclined to say is not. I don't, but I would like to know if top players get sometimes free package from organizers, there are not many sponsors. If I know the nr 1 player attends a tournament this is not a good news for me as a player :-) Lessons in backgammon is not so common practice as well.
