Advantage of strong players

I would like to understand if it worth or not for a good player to make an effort and become a Grandmaster.

I would think that if sheer love of playing competitive backgammon and a desire to win substantial prizes at tournaments and chouettes at tournaments isn't incentive enough for working to become a World Class player, then any added status or 'privileges' you might get by being on any Giants or alternate list of greats isn't going to make a difference.
