I'm not seeing this as a problem. There is only one four to be played, 9/5. After that we can either bring the other checker in with 7/4 which isn't covering the outfield anyway, leaves two shots for no real reason, and isn't saving us any numbers we need saved or 9/2 which does the opposite of what we want. With 9/2 we're forced to play sixes next turn which we'd much rather not do in order to keep our 5pt board as long as possible in order to escape our back checker. There are also other minor things like how [43] plays next turn or the long term benefit of having our spares on the high points for the bear off.
