Problem 1:... Blue to play 51

Bob asked at what settings I would trust XG's rollout. It's a fair question. In part, it depends on by how big a margin the top play dominates. Typically, I start at 3-ply, then roll out the candidates that are close (and look like the kind of plays that might overturn) on 4-ply, and so on (assuming I'm willing to invest the time -- else leave it to anyone interested enough). I have no set formula.

Keene and Colin inquired about the retro-ability of the positions. Admittedly, the Problem 2 position looks difficult to arrive at with reasonable play (though I haven't tried).

However, I'm sure the Problem 1 position (shown above) can be achieved with perfect play. For example, though without bothering to retrofit from the beginning, I'll trust the reader can accept that a position such as the one diagrammed below is reachable.

White is Player 2

Blue is Player 1

White fans

From here (starting with White fanning), the sequence F-54$-63R-64K-4-64H-22@-51 is perfectly played at DMP according to XGR++ and reaches the Problem 1 position diagrammed at the top of this message.
