Mochy and BLC form New Partnership--Boot Camps

BLC Backgammon Boot Camps Mochy, the No. 1 player in the World (Giants of Backgammon 2015), in partnership with The Backgammon Learning Center (BLC), is pleased to announce BLC Boot Camps.

Backgammon Camps are a fast and efficient way to improve skills for Open, Intermediate, and Beginner players. Training sessions focus on all areas of the game with emphasis on tournament play.

Instructors for the first camps include Mochy (No. 1), Michy (no 2) and if available, Falafel (No.4), along with Phil Simborg, Dennis Culpepper and Ben Friesen. The instructor to attendee ratio will not exceed 1:8 to ensure a high level of individual attention.

Open/Intermediate attendee participation is limited to 32 players on a first come first served basis.

Open and Intermediate attendees will undergo a pre-camp skills assessment exam to identify strengths and weakness in their games. This exam results will be used to customize a program for each attendee. Attendees may also select topics where they would like special emphasis and personal help. The program for One Day Open/Intermediate Camps starts out with a lecture by Mochy on how he prepares for tournaments. The rest of the morning and afternoon the attendees break into small groups by topic.

The evening session will include a Duplicate Match competition where all attendees will be playing against the same positions. There will be move by move commentary and prizes awarded.

Attendees will be provided with take-away materials and exercises to continue their improvement on their own.

The Beginners program will focus on not only teaching the basic rules and strategies, but also an appreciation for the fun and excitement of the game. Suggestions for continuing improvement will be provided.

The first Camp takes place before the 4th Merit Open in North Cyprus, on Tuesday, November 1st. The Merit Open is November 2-6. This tournament will be the largest added money tournament ever held in any country. There will also be a special Turkish-speaking Boot Camp in Cyprus, led by BLC instructor Cuneyt Argun.

The second Camp will take place the day before The Las Vegas Open on Tuesday, November 15th. The Las Vegas Open is November 16-20. This tournament is known for having the largest crowds and highest payouts in the American Backgammon Tour.

As an added bonus, attendees will have a chance (by lottery) to play doubles in the main event with one of the instructors.

The fee for Open/Intermediate is $500. The Beginners fee is $200, and $50 for children under 17.
