This is one of those that I get right online, but wrong OTB. I understand the principle, I get the why's, and I can be more clinical about it when I am looking at it electronically. OTB though, I am likely going to have a harder time convincing myself to make the play on the 7pt.

As to why its so important that the white checker is on the 1pt (UBK's question) - thats simple - massive duplication with entering 6's, short/medium term exposure, and when priming someone then the 13/7 play has two upsides to it. It achieves one strategy goal, and forces white to be put into a more stretched position in the medium term - priming from too far back, being forced into defensive plays from an offensive position etc.
