We can hit loose on the ace - the advantage being that we don't send a fourth checker back so don't have to deal with the possibility of a backgame. But we don't have any direct covers and they lack timing for a backgame, so I don't think that's the right idea.
We can play 13/8 without hitting, again eschewing the hit to avoid a backgame. Although hitting on the eleven gives ten more pips of timing than hitting on the ace, it's still not enough.
So, I like the hit. It distracts them from whacking our runner and four checekrs back is a gammonish, even with their anchor.
So, 13/11*/8 or 13/11* 8/5? 8/5 aims two checkers directly at the ace while the eight point isn't doing a heck of a lot for us. And a blot on the eleven can't be hit from the bar. I'll go for 8/5, but could be easily talked into making the eight point.
13/11* 8/5
