Voyager 1 was launched on Sept 5, 1977. In Sept 2013, 36 years later it left our solar system. It is traveling at over 37,000 miles per hour. If it continues to travel at this speed it will leave the Milky Way Galaxy approximately 1.9 billion years from now.

Now imagine that the Milky Way was a quarter. Remember it would take approximately 1.9 billion years traveling at 37,000/MPH to get from the center of the quarter to the edge. The known universe would be approximately the size of Houston compared to the quarter.

Hard to imagine.
