Sounds like a permissions issue to me. Try this.
1. Locate the executable (gridgammon.exe). It is usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\GridGammon on Windows 7 machines.
2. Right click on it.
3. Select 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'
4. A 'Program Compatibility' window will pop up
5. Select 'Troubleshoot Program'
6. Tick 'This program requires additional permissions'
7. Click 'Next'
8. Click 'Start the Program..'
9. A flashing User Account Control (UAC) icon should pop up on your taskbar
10. Click the UAC icon and then click 'Yes' to elevate the permissions for gridgammon.exe
11. Gridgammon should now start.
12. Go back to the 'Program Compatibility' window and click 'Next'
13. It will ask you 'Is the problem fixed?'
14. As (hopefully) GG has launched successfully, click 'Yes, save these settings for this program'.
15. In future, you can run GG by locating and directly double-clicking 'gridgammon.exe'
You can also modify any existing shortcut to gridgammon.exe - a shortcut may already exist on your desktop / start menu depending on the options you chose at time of installation.
If not, you may like to manually create a shortcut to gridgammon.exe now.
Once you have a shortcut..
1. Right click on the shortcut
2. Select 'Properties'
3. Select the 'Compatibility' tab at the top
4. Tick 'Run this program as Administrator'
5. Click 'Apply'
6. You should now also be able to run the program with the elevated permissions by double-clicking the shortcut.
Hope this works for you. Feel free to email me if not.
