Tournament results and prizes

I see people occasionally complain about the timely announcement of tournament results, which I have never been curious about.

However, I have often been curious about the monetary value of the prizes but I don't remember ever seeing them announced anywhere.

I assume they would be highly advertised to attract more participants but maybe they are so small that people would be instead turned off from bothering to participate?

Or maybe there are other reasons like financial privacy, tax evasion, etc.??
