Keep or break the midpoint?

One is tempted to make the 6 point to create a nice, albeit broken, prime. However, the cost looks high, given the result will be two stragglers.

I will appreciate your explaining how you evaluate this position in particular. Will also appreciate your providing some general guidelines as to when it is indicated to break the midpoint.
