Using a pot instead of the cube in money games

What do you say to playing money games with a pot, as in poker, instead of using the cube?
At the start, each player puts an initially agreed stake into the pot, say $5.
Then, at any turn, a player can offer to raise the pot amount, akin to offering the cube. The opponent can accept or decline, as if he were offered a cube.
For example, if I determine that my position is somewhat better than my opponent, but not good enough to "double" were we using the cube, I offer to add $3 to the pot (which initially has $5 from each player).
If my opponent declines to add his $3, I win and collect the $10 in the pot. If he accepts, then we each put our additional $3 into the pot, which will then have $16, and continue the game, just as if he had accepted my cube.
Either player at any turn can offer to increase the pot, so neither player "owns the cube".
