Hi!
Thanks for the tip! :-)
I think the ability to watch a match video along with the XG analysis is pretty nice and especially nice if there is a commentary track.
Select menu/Matches (or ctrl-m on desktop) and click on the matches with video commentaries:
![]()
and you'll see the list:
![]()
I haven't gone through all videos and I don't know the voice of all who do commentaries so unless they present themselves at the start I may struggle a bit adding info on who is commenting. Let me know if you have this info on any of the videos!
You can also find a lot more match videos by going to the full match list:
![]()
If you click on the checkbox below the video icon in the top right corner you'll see:
![]()
over 1600 matches that have the video link available. Start the match and click on the video icon again:
![]()
and the video will overlay the board and you can press play on the video and then click through the move list as the video advances. If the video icon isn't visible in the top right corner it is also found in the menu/match info.
Unfortunately some videos doesn't allow embedding so you end up with:
![]()
which is a bit sad as you then have to have XG open along with the video in two separate windows which is rather impractical unless you have a rather huge screen (or dual screen).
I still don't know why you would not allow embedding. One concern could be ad revenue generation but that always go to the video provider: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/132596?hl=en
"Revenue sharing for embedded videos
Only YouTube and the video owner will earn revenue from ads on embedded videos; the site owner where the video is embedded will not earn a share. You can track earnings for embedded videos in AdSense, as you would for videos earning revenue on YouTube.com."
so you'd think video providers would be more than happy to have the video embedded everywhere to get as many playbacks as possible.
I think finding both match files and match videos is made a lot easier with Backgammon Studio. Give it a try! :-)
Backgammon Studio The swiss army knife of backgammon!
Best regards,
TP
