After 13/3 and fan, only 22 and 33 really suck, so there is no major need to protect against crashing. Don't leave the direct, make a 5th point, and toss an escaping number next.

Another way to look at it is to do the hardest thing first. Covering is harder than escaping, because if you don't cover now, you can get hit, and you have two rolls to roll the escaping number after you cover now.
