OT- Credit Karma

As an ex Federal employee I have been a victim of both data breaches with OPM, and they gave us free credit monitoring. I also am signed up with Credit Karma and the interesting thing is that Credit Karma picked up changes on my credit reports quicker than the OPM IDCare that we had been given after the OPM data breaches. I am also a victim of the Equifax breach so they say.
Equifax also offers free credit monitoring which I suggest you sign up for if only for the one million dollar identity insurance. I have not looked at it much but I did sign up for it for both myself and my wife.
You can buy a credit freeze from the 3 major credit monitoring companies but that costs some bucks; or you can do an initial fraud alert via TransUnion (google it) which propagates to the other main credit companies for 3 to 4 months and must be manually renewed to keep it free.
Credit Karma is on top of things and I think their revenue source is from advertising and recommending credit cards.
