I think it's less to do with 'such a good six' and more to due with triplication of fours and double hitting numbers. Often in the early game the opponent will still have five stacked on his midpoint and we'll be split to his bar but that isn't going to stop us from hitting loose on his own especially when he has a blot on his ace point. It also matters where we're hitting from of course, as 8/5* is an ugly hit compared to something like this:

Compare [32] to [21] as far as hitting numbers go. This likely isn't an ideal example of what I'm trying to convey because I'm pressed for time but there you have it.
