"using the sum of the scores of both games. E.g. if in the first pair of games A1 wins a doubled gammon and A2 loses a single game, team A will lead 4-1"

To me the sum would be to add +4 + (-1) = +3 to one teams score. Your example indicates that this is not what is done. Maybe reword as "using both scores..."

Point taken, thank you.

I have a few questions to make sure I am understanding "Crawford : the game after one team reaches n-1, no cube is possible. The game after one team reaches n-2 or n-3, the other team is allowed to cube only in one of the two games (but can choose in which one)."

That could happen twice for one team correct? So suppose team A reaches n-3. Team B can only double one game. Suppose team A wins one point to reach n-2. It is again the case that team B cuold only double one game?

You are correct. I'd say only one Crawford pair of games per match, but I am not sure. Maybe allowing one Crawford (-2 or -3) and one double Crawford (-1) per team. Probably some math is needed so that the MET is made as linear as possible.

Suppose that both teams reach n-2 or n-3 at the same time. Then both teams can only double one game. Could a team use its one double doubling to 4?

I see no reason to bar that possibility.

Like in bughouse having more clock time is a consideration. Suppose you have a checker play that depends on if your partner wins or loses a gammon. So you wait to see how opponent plays a move on opposite board. But opponent waits also.

That's exactly the goal of that game design ! Bughouse without the double sits (nor A1, nor B2 wants to play first) wouldn't be bughouse.

"if a players forfeits on time, his opponent scores the maximum number of points which is still possible in the game (generally, three times the cube value). "

Possible assuming legal plays, or assuming non-idiot plays?

I was thinking legal plays, but non-idiot plays would be fine if they can be defined easily.

"I will try to look for three players crazy enough to playtest that OTB."

Or maybe only one is needed?

Sure it can be played in simul but that would require a player three times as crazy :-)
