32-bit vs 64-bit LINUX, etc.

An interesting benchmark article:

I recall someone (can't remember who, sorry) mentioning that GNU-bg runs noticeably faster on 64-bit LINUX than 32-bit LINUX.

Comments, confirmations, counterarguments?

I don't know (but doubt) if this directly applies to bg software developed on WIN OS's (or even those apps ported to WIN OS's) but I'm sure there are people here who can shed light on that, too.
