Madison format

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Wisconsin State Backgammon Championships is using a different modified Swiss format this year. We are adopting a version of the method used by Patrick Gibson in the Vietor Cup last year. There are still a few tweaks we are working on, but the gist of it is now up on our website: WSBC "More Swiss" Format
Some key differences from last year:
- There is no transition to a draw sheet for the playoffs. We just keep doing rounds of Swiss until there is a winner.
- No playoffs means no consolation bracket. Just people who finish in 4th, 5th,6th, etc. Same amount of play but labeled differently.
- Going 8-0 does not get you seeded into a final. You keep playing until you have eliminated the competition. However, you can't go 8-1 and lose the tournament.
Well, what do you think? We are still open to good suggestions. Post them here or email me directly.
Reminder: hotel rate is only guaranteed until Tuesday. Book you room now.
