I would start trying to run the checker on the 20 point to the 5, then go, "Dang! He's got me blocked!" Plan B: Make the 3 point and remake the 8. I'd then use the last 5 to go from the 20 to the 15, at least starting him on his way home. Wasn't it Musashi who said, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a dead battery, a flat tire, and a gas needle pegging on the 'E' "...or have I remembered it wrong somewhere?

But I don't think I've remembered this problem wrong. I think this was the answer regardless of what reasons were given, and the actual play involved making not the 3 and 1, but the 4 and 3, giving up both the 8 and 9. That's too high a price for the Insta Board, since the 8 and 9 point are also very useful to you here.
