You have the 2 plays to look at. I would make the ace, but am far from certain. After the roll you are 2 pips up, which means slightly behind in the race. The bar anchor midpoint contact locks in place checkers and increases your timing advantage. I would try to capitalize on that by making the ace, trying to build a board while keep contact against the bar anchor, and blocking 33 for a turn.

If you'd be further back I would be sure about keeping the 10, if you'd be further forward I would be sure about clearing the 10. This looks like the point where the decision is toughest.

About your last question - I'd ask if it would be anything one could feel embarassed about, but here, nothing like that, so go ahead.
