I think the main argument for making the ace point is to save sixes. 61 is bad for you but you can't do anything about that; the 10pt allows you to play an extra 65 64 62 safely. The main argument for clearing the 10pt seems to be that it doesn't waste pips, and the race is close.

Generally speaking in a mutual holding game with an even race where we hold the midpoint and the opponent holds the bar point, we have a slight timing advantage. That is, the opponent is more likely to crack first. Here, I think that means we don't have to worry excessively about saving sixes. I would play 10/6 10/5.
