In Response To: Rules/Ethics Question from Novi (Steve Mellen)

Honest, integral, ethical, moral, sportsmanlike, gentlemanly -- all adjectives used to describe attitudes in backgammon (and other activities). But does every action/decision necessarily get a clear 'yes' or 'no' when put up against these tests? IMO, not necessarily. To accept a (no-contact) resignation when a player has a miniscule chance of a better result is allowed within the rules. I also don't consider it a breach of any of the above. But the opponent may still choose to point out the inaccuracy, request that the player continue, and/or at least make an attempt to convince his adversary to continue.

Bottom line for me is that either action (acceptance without comment or requesting a continuation) is perfectly fine in the situation you've detailed.
