7/2 looks like the five. We need to use our checkers efficiently, and tell me you've never fanned on a board with three closed points and two blots -- and that assumes we can't cover while hitting.

If we were desperate for a playable six then 23/22 might make sense. Here, however, we're well behind in the race and don't want to give our opponent options of slopping checkers behind us. We can clear the midpoint with most sixes if that becomes the issue.

So we need to also play the ace on our side and 8/7 diversifies builders/covers.

7/2, 8/7 or if you prefer, 8/2.
