Side Event or Separate event but Consecutive days?

I'll just say, Michael, that when you posted a messageless post congratulating FB for winning the Monte Carlo Open I had no idea what that meant. I thought it was a joke. I don't read all the brochures of tournaments I don't attend so I would have no way of knowing that it was an added/side event at the WC. And I didn't have a chance to see any live streaming having had something more important to do, maybe ... I think I was at Legoland USA;-
Looking at the tourney results at ChiPoint, I see that the WC this year finished up with a new two-day double-elimination event called the "Monte Carlo Open" with Euro 500 and Euro 200 divisions which attracted 34 and 12 players. Also on the schedule was the traditional Super Jackpot for Euro 1000 this year and only 16 players. In '10, '09 and '08 there were 32 in the Super JP; in '07 there were 64; in '06 80; in '05 112; in '04 and '03 128; and maybe even more in a couple of previous years.
So it looks like the attraction of the big money single elimination Jackpot had slid a lot, the new side event drew a small crowd, but might well be better attended next year. I just wouldn't have called it an "Open."
