One can always specify the target inside the anchor tag to open in a new window (it'll open in a new tab in some browsers like FF). But I doubt we'll be able to train posters to all do this. Stick could probably modify the behavior to make all links open in a new tab, but chances are he has more important things to do with his time.

For now, I'd just suggest right clicking to open in a new tab, or using the back button to return to the forum when you're done looking at the link.
