In Response To: ruling regarding touching checkers (Jason Lee)

So what do we think about me touching the checkers while I'm thinking about the cube? I think touching them in the course of counting pips is perfectly fine, even if the checkers move slightly. I think shifting checkers to a different point to aid in counting is more problematic.

As I recall, Doug Roberts sometimes handled tough cube decisions by considering the board from his opponent's perspective - by which I mean, inverting the position by moving every single checker to the opposite side of the board. I suspect many players would deem that a tad excessive.
