Really? My scenario is one that, while unlikely, could happen. Your donkey/grandmaster argument is not only unlikely, it is unrealistic.

I am not sure what you think should be distinguished. It was obvious to me that it could never be right to make an inferior play or cube decision that would decrease the chances of winning the 1st match unless there was a benefit to be gained in the latter matches. As I stated, with equal players this could never exist. As I have shown, with unequal players it can. There are many situations that could occur where the stronger player makes a very slightly inferior checker play or cube decision that lengthens the first match, in an effort to gain more information about his opponent. Conversely, when faced with a very close decision,the weaker player may be correct in trying to shorten the first match, at the expense of a slight decrease in winning chances, to keep his weaknesses hidden.
