Opening book/bgonline differences

I've found both groupings helpful. One reason that grouping by opening roll makes sense is that over the board, what you see is your opponent making a move. The only relevant part of the opening book is now the set of responses to that move, so it's useful if you have that set of responses grouped together in your mind. Also, the opening move already sets the character of the game to some extent, and thus your replies will have a common theme—fitting into the current character of the game.
On the other hand, for some rolls like 43 or 32 or 63, where there are a lot of tricky decisions, I find it useful to group them together in order to analyze why it should be played one way in certain situations and another way in other situations.
