What a mess ...

Did Player B give a nod, or any verbal confirmation, when the TD announced the change? Both players said no.

I don't understand how the TD would not have received some sort of confirmation. It's not like before the match this is a 4 word phrase "Playing to 5 btw" to get his opponent to acknowledge the change. He would have had to do a little explaining. "Our match is holding up the draw and instead of using a clock we're going to shorten our match from 7 points to 5 point." I just can't fathom not getting a response of some sort to this and starting the match.

Anyone, the ruling to me in this case seems clear even though there's a mess of details. They're playing to 7, next!
