There are 2 problems here: The dispute over the match length and the lack of keeping score by both players.

If a match is shortened by the TD officially (remember: players canīt change the match length as they please but only a TD can), the TD has to make sure that it is clearly understood and acknowledged by all involved players.

In this case, the TD himself being involved, he should have made it clear even more. Since it was not acknowledged by his opponent....

Without knowing exactly, I guess that the solving the problem, discussing the dispute and making a ruling took considerably longer and delayed the schedule, than if the match was played to 7 at first place.

Both players MUST keep score and both players MUST supervize both score sheets (see WBA rules which also apply in Florida and San Francisco). The best is to use a scoreboard, which makes life easier on everyone.
