I didn't care for this solution yesterday, and still don't (because I think the lack of scorekeeping by Player B is irrelevant), but today I could agree that "splitting the difference" could be a fair and friendly proposal in a local club venue. I think generally that rulings that adjust match scores to other than what is earned at the table is not good policy, with the obvious (and rare) exceptions of applying penalty points (almost always for analog time control faults).
