White doesn't want a man sent back. White wants to make a 4 point board. Left alone, 18 of his numbers do that. There are other things White wouldn't mind doing, but that looks like the biggest permanent improvement he can make. How are you going to stop him? You could play 6/5*. With what? Blotty 13/11? Weak 10/8? With the latter, you'll be on the bar half the time. With either, White still has 11 numbers to make his 4 point; 5-5, 5-1 and 4-4 hit and point. Does Blue have something better to do? Something so good that it's better than 21/20*? 6/5* is loose. 13/10 is solid, stodgy. White's more likely to improve than Blue. He'll make the four point now or next roll, maybe 75% of the time.

So. Take out that slot with 21/20*. Button up with 10/8. Roll an ace next time to improve your anchor. Or do something else; White doesn't have much to attack you with. Blue likes the anchor he has now? I do too. But in the next several rolls Blue's going to have to take some chances. Better, I think, to take them facing a 3-point board instead of a 4-point board.
