Problem 1 Somebody recently said something about the paradoxical nature of the 18-point holing game. But PRaT-3 is hard to argue with. D+T

Problem 2 Yes, this situation is about avoiding gammon losses, but it's also about winning, and keeping opp from building a winning position fills the latter bill. 25/20*, 6/3*

Problem 3 Lots of themes here, but the Rice Rule (which is hard to acknowledge when the namesake was only being born during the 20th Century peak of respect for the 5-point) sure looks right here. White is the one who needs to step softly (with only one back), not Blue. 5(2)

Problem 4 Blue is far from gin here in this awkward situation. OTOH, White's position is at it's peak. But even with bland+bland rolls in the next exchange, White still looks strong. N+T

Problem 5 Blue's decision is a no-brainer. This isn't much of a $-take, IMO. Scoreboard... D+P
