Touch moves is a no brainer for tournament play. When I say touch moves, I mean the lift move variation referred to by Leonardo Jerkovic. If you move a checker legally to another point, that move must stand. Why should I be penalized by my opponent making 30 shecker plays with his double 3's. Memorizing the entire board position prior to a roll in not supposed to be part of the skill factor of backgammon. It rewards those with photographic memories and penalizes those without that skill set. And those with sufficient legerdemain can use their shuffling skills to cheat. Touch (or lift) moves should simply be part of the games just like clocks. GET USED TO IT!
