Nomenclature: Please, no "touch move"

Like Tom, Michaels idea made me think of the golf practice, and also that in snooker, where the referee precisely marks the position of the cue ball if asked to clean it. An interesting idea, and more practical in the current culture than 'if you breath on a piece you must move it (if legal)'

Of course, it could involve 'a lot of extra fiddling' and, with bg being a fairly fast paced game might be a little cumbersome. But, apart from the fact that it could help stop/discourage another kind of fiddling, I think that if a player wants to not have to visualise a potential play perhaps it shouldn't be so straightforward for him. And hey...if his clocks running I can live with it. Ergo, should perhaps be combined with 'clock preference'?
